LUNACUP user manual
This shared manual covers the standard LUNACUP and the common use, hygiene and safety steps for LUNACUP Evolution. Evolution-specific valve instructions are not part of this guide yet; follow the instructions supplied with that product.
Before first use
Wash your hands and the cup with warm water. Sterilize the cup before first use and after each cycle. Boil it fully submerged for no more than 3 minutes, or use the sterilization bag as described below.
Insertion
Wet the cup, choose a relaxed seated or squatting position, fold it in a C-fold or punch-down fold and insert it toward the cervix. The whole cup, including the stem, must be inside. Let it open, then check the rim with a finger. A gentle pull should meet resistance. Never force insertion; stop if it hurts.
When to empty
Empty every 4–6 hours on heavy days and every 10–12 hours on lighter days. Never exceed 12 hours. Empty before sport or strenuous activity until you know your own flow.
Removal
Wash your hands, relax and bear down gently. Do not pull by the stem alone. Pinch the base or press one side near the rim to release the seal, rock the cup down slowly, tilt the rim out, empty, rinse and reinsert.
Cleaning and storage
During the cycle rinse with potable water and, if needed, a mild unscented intimate wash. Clean the rim holes and folds. After the cycle sterilize, let the cup dry, and store it in the breathable cotton pouch—never in an airtight plastic bag.
Sterilization bag
Put 3 tablespoons of cold water and the clean cup into the bag and close the zip. Stand it upright in the center of a microwave turntable. Heat at full power: 1.5 minutes at 1100 W or more; 3 minutes at 800–1100 W; 5 minutes at 500–800 W. The bag must rotate freely. Leave it in the microwave for 5 minutes to cool. Use an oven glove, drain through the side vent, open carefully and allow the bag to dry. The bag can remain very hot. Microwave only; do not cook in it. Discard if damaged. Expected life: 20 uses.
Troubleshooting
If the cup does not open, try another fold, squeeze the base or gently create space beside the folded rim. If it leaks, check that the rim is open, the cervix is inside the cup and the cup is not full. If it sits too high, relax, squat and bear down in several gentle pulses. The cup cannot pass through the cervix. Seek medical help if you cannot remove it or have severe pain.
Safety
The cup does not prevent pregnancy or sexually transmitted infections. Remove it before penetrative vaginal sex. Stop use and contact a doctor if you notice pain, burning, irritation, inflammation or difficulty urinating. Consult a clinician about use with an IUD. Do not use a damaged cup; replace it if you see tears, cracks or other changes. Keep hands and cup clean and never wear longer than 12 hours.
