How to Clean a Menstrual Cup?
To Keep Your Cup Like New
Sterilization - by boiling / in the sterilization pouch
The cup should be sterilized before first use and after every cycle. For women who are more prone to infections and are more sensitive, we recommend sterilizing the cup during the cycle as well and emptying it more often.
Sterilization can be done in two ways:
- Boil it in water in a pot on the stove (5 minutes - we recommend setting a timer so the water does not boil away and damage the cup).
- Use the sterilization pouch included in our packaging and a microwave.
Washing During Your Cycle
During your cycle, we recommend rinsing the cup regularly with warm water and intimate gel when you change it (at least twice a day - morning and evening). To learn how to care for your cup while traveling, read here.
Cleaning with a Brush
After longer use, the cup may become slightly discolored from blood, even though you sterilize and wash it regularly; blood is a strong dye.
You can clean the cup with a toothbrush (which is, of course, reserved for the cup), and for the holes that create the suction, you can use cotton swabs, for example.
Bleaching the Cup to Make It Like New Again with Ordinary Undiluted 3% Hydrogen Peroxide
The final way to clean the cup is with ordinary undiluted 3% hydrogen peroxide. First, buy 3% hydrogen peroxide; it is readily available at pharmacies and costs around 50 CZK per 100 ml (one bottle is enough for 1-2 thorough cleanings of the cup).
Place the washed cup in a glass and pour ordinary undiluted 3% hydrogen peroxide over it so that the cup is fully submerged, and leave it to work for 7-8 hours (you can leave the cup cleaning overnight and be surprised by the peroxide's magic in the morning).

After 8 hours, the cup is like new :-)
