First days with a menstrual cup

How to Master the First Days and Not Give Up?

Beginnings are usually not easy in any direction. That's why I decided to give you a few tips on how to handle your first use and first cycles with a menstrual cup and not give up!

For some, handling the cup is easy right from the first cycle, while others need 2-3 cycles, sometimes even longer, before they get comfortable with the cup. This is natural - we're all different, so there's no need to stress if the first insertion doesn't work out or if the cup leaks.

The important thing is not to get discouraged and try again, or find out why the cup might be leaking. That's why we offer free consultation on our Facebook pages, and you can find lots of information on our website in the advice section or in the instructions themselves.

Folding the Cup

The two most proven techniques are:
 the "C" technique
 and the "Push Down" technique.

"C"          "Push Down"

Insertion

First, rinse the cup with water to make handling easier.

The next step is to relax. This is often a problem, especially at the beginning when you're concentrating on insertion.

You can insert while squatting, on the toilet, with one leg up, etc. It depends on what works for you.

In my opinion, it's best to insert the cup while squatting in a warm shower, which also relaxes muscles and helps with menstrual cramps.

Cup Placement

Don't insert the cup as deep as you would a tampon. Release your finger and let it unfold.

It's important to check the rim of the inserted cup after insertion to make sure it's not folded anywhere. If it is folded, pull the vaginal wall away at that point and let the cup unfold completely to create suction. This will prevent possible leaking.

Then try gently pulling on the stem. If the cup is properly unfolded and you have the right size, it should resist. The cup stem shouldn't stick out. If it does stick out and you can't insert the cup deeper, you can trim it or cut it off. For the LUNACUP evolution cup, don't trim the stem but tuck it inside.

I recommend reading the instructions before first use.
