Menstrual cup and sports
We're really not making it up when we say that you can do absolutely anything with a cup.

During sports, the abdominal muscles are strained and this can cause the blood to be released in larger quantities. It is therefore best to empty the cup before any sports activity to avoid concerns about overflow. When inserting, follow the instructions and don't forget to check the circumference of the inserted cup to make sure it is fully extended. Once you have the cup inserted, you can start doing anything!

Swimming
OUR CUSTOMERS OFTEN ASK US IF THEY CAN TAKE THEIR CUP INTO THE POOL, HOT TUB OR THE SEA.
YES, you can go into the water with a cup. You don't have to worry about your tampon string, or going to the toilet and changing your tampon after every swim. You can easily be in the water for hours with a cup. If you have a lighter period, empty and insert the cup in the morning, before you go to the beach, for example, and don't worry about anything for the rest of the day. You can enjoy the whole day undisturbed by the sea or by the pool. On heavier days, you need to check and empty the cup as needed during the day. You can read how to empty the cup in public toilets in our advice center. You can also use the cup outside of your period as protection against pathogens from public pools. Don't forget to remove and wash the cup after 12 hours at the latest.
The advantages of a cup when doing sports compared to a pad and tampon in several points
- discretion
- cleanliness
- no odor
- no steam
- does not support the growth of bacteria
- lasts 2-3 times longer than classic hygiene products
- you can spend the whole day with it by the water/in the water
- you do not have to change/empty it after every swim
- you do not have to feel embarrassed in women's changing rooms, nudist beaches or in the sauna, where the tampon string can be seen
- you can wear any sportswear and nothing is visible anywhere
Yoga, pilates, aerobics, dance,..
You can do these activities without restrictions.
A common question in yoga is: “What happens to the blood in the cup when I do a handstand?” The blood stays in the cup, or is trapped between the cup and the cervix, and cannot get back into the body. Read our article on the cervix.
Other sports that you often ask about include various types of combat sports, and you can safely use the cup in them. The same goes for cycling, roller skating, winter sports, horseback riding, and many more. Just about anything you can think of!
